The Columbia Falls boys golf team took fourth at the Western A divisional tournament in Fairmont Hot Springs last week, which qualified them for the state tournament.

Gabe Love led the squad, shooting an 88, good enough for sixth place. Rounding out the scoring for the boys was Logan Lybbert, 94 (tied for 11th). LJ Panasuk, 97 (tied for 12th), Logan Peck, 103 (tied for 15th). Trey Perkins shot a 123, which also qualified him for state.

On the girls' side, Ali Gould shot a 131 (20th) Shea LeFevbre 132 (21st) and Kerry Lanners, 135 (22nd). They qualified for state as well. The top 30 individuals qualify for state.

"We always start the season with a goal of qualifying a full team for state, but in our conference it's a pretty tough task with the strong programs in Whitefish and Polson," coach Gene Marcille said. "As usual, all of our kids represented us really well. Scorekeepers, waitresses, parents from other schools - I get lots of comments about how nice our kids are when we're on the road, which is a nice tribute to our parents, our school and our community."

The state tournament is this week in Sidney.
