Boys down Bigfork, 3-1

| September 16, 2015 9:57 AM

The Columbia Falls boys soccer team beat Bigfork 3-1 Tuesday for its first conference victory of the year.

Logan Stephens scored the first goal for the Wildcats in the first half to tie the game up and then Daniel Skinner scored on a penalty kick to put the Cats up in the second half.

Paxton Fisher added a score from a good 35 yards out to seal the deal.

The Cats outshot Bigfork, 20-9.

Last week the cats split the bill on their eastern road trip.

They beat Laurel Sept. 11 3-0, but lost to Billings Central, 4-0.

Keeper Brandon Karberg turned away 21 shots in the loss.

Coach O’Brien Byrd was happy with the team’s play.

“They had the weekend of their lives,” he said. Byrd started three freshmen and he said they actually played better against Central, but had some tough luck.

“We had six shots, but we couldn’t finish,” he said.

The Cats face Libby Saturday at noon.
