The Wave Ryders swim club had some nice performances from Columbia Falls swimmers and won the fall frenzy last weekend. Leading the squad was Colton Babcock, who won the 100 butterfly, 50 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke while Zayne Friar took second right behind him in the 100 and 50 butterfly events. Babcock also took second in the 50 backstroke.

It was the first meet of the season and coach Mike Nelson, who also coaches the Columbia Falls High School swim team, was pleased with the performances.

“Briceida Bellon, Kat Bellon, Alex Card, Taylor Fortin, Gabe Fremont-Smith, Colter Gaertner, Alexis Gladeau, Ashleigh Jensen, Helena Kunz, Angelina Mays,  Jason Mays, Sofia Ramirez Galdamez, Molly Roalson, Lincoln Schroeder, Noah Schroeder, Sophie Tabor, Eleanor Works-Wright and Jessica Young all had great first meet performances and improved on their times,” he said.

Jensen, the Bellon sisters, Galdamez, Gladeau as well as Friar and Babcock are the Columbia Falls swimmers on the squad, which is combined with Whitefish swimmers.

The next meet is in Great Falls Oct. 31.
