The Columbia Falls football team had a tough time on the road against the Dillon Beavers last Friday, losing 48-20. Coach Jackson Schweikert said the team is just playing inconsistent ball. At one point, they look unstoppable, at another, they make a key turnover.

“We’re really young and we’re really inconsistent,” he said. “At times, we were awesome.”

Dakota Bridwell had three touchdown passes for the Wildcats — 17 yards to Wyatt Green, 41 yards to Bryce Fagerland and 5 yards to Tyler Murphy.

Murphy totaled five receptions for 56 yards.

Bridwell was 23 of 41 passing for 205 yards, but he also had another pick six, which was run back 90 yards for a Dillon touchdown. Turnovers are a big part of the team’s woes. In all of their loses they’ve been hurt by turnovers. When they get those cleaned up, they’re a very good football team, young or not. The Cats face Whitefish at home Friday at 7 p.m. as they begin conference play. Schweikert said Whitefish is probably the most talented team in Class A, but he still likes the Cats’ chances.

“You just never know,” he said.

As a side note, Bridwell’s seven touchdowns against Browning a couple of weeks ago was not just a school record, but a new Class A record as well.
