Mack Days fishing tournament wraps up fall season

Terry Krogstad of Kalispell hauled in 1,217 lake trout to win the 2015 Fall Mack Days.

Fall Mack Days ended on Sunday with a record of 19,525 lake trout being harvested during the eight week tournament.

Almost 500 anglers participated in the fall event. 

Krogstad had a 15-day average of 65.07. Mike Benson of Lonepine was second with 1,113 and an average of 63.27. Third place was Felix Gauci of Stevensville with 1,067 and a 60.4 average. Fourth was Bob Stewart of Kalispell with 574 trout and a 37.13 average. Fifth was Scott Bombard of Missoula with 569 trout and a 35.27 average. Sixth was Phil Meredith of Kalispell with 536 trout and a 32.4 average. Seventh was Larry Karper of Florence with 578 trout and a 32.2 average, eighth was Richard Kreis of Huson with 547 trout and a 30.67 average. Ninth was John Gauci of Florence with 451 trout and a 26.8 average, and 10th was Sam Cusker of Missoula with 418 fish and a 24.07 average. The top ten anglers are placed by their best fifteen-day average from the Friday through Sunday fishing days. Anglers could fish Tuesday through Thursday for points that count on their final totals but did not count for any other prizes. Laurie Kreis of Huson placed first in the Ladies Division with 275 fish. Second place was Debbie Pike of Polson with 212, Brandy Hilde of Missoula placed third with 170, fourth was Jeanee Mooney of Missoula with146, and fifth place was Bobbi Hereford of Missoula with 117 trout.  Ayden Tripp of Missoula and Brandon Watne of Kalispell tied for first in the 13-17 age group with eighteen fish each. Third place was Landon Wilkensen of Libby with 17, fourth was  Brandon Bass of Lakeside with 9, and Myles Tripp and Garrett Beville of Bigfork tied for fifth with 8 each. Ellyanna Tripp of Missoula was first in the 12 and under group with 28, second was Matthew Kreis of Huson with 13, and third was Makenna Garrett of Missoula with 7. Golden Angler Larry Karper placed in the top ten so angler Bob Christensen won with 327 and second went to Glenn Hoffman of Missoula.

The Bucket Day competition was won by Richard and Laurie Kreis of Huson with 22 points, second went to Ted Petersen and Paul Gyles of Stevensville  with 20 points, and third place went to Bob and Bobbi Hereford of Missoula with 14 points.
