The Columbia Falls speech and debate team garnered third place in the kick-off tournament of the 2015 season in Kalispell.

Loyola and Whitefish lead the tournament at Flathead and Glacier High schools.

Head coach Tara Norick is excited for the team to get their feet underneath them and build the foundation for the season.

“There is a lot of competition this year and Whitefish looks like the team to beat. We have our work cut out for us,” Norick said.

The Wildcats were led by debaters Annabel Conger and Colin Norick, who won first place in varsity policy debate. Ian McKenzie and Ruth Nelson claimed a third place finish in novice policy debate.

Next weekend, the team travels to the Ronan Invitational.
