Columbia Falls High School senior Winter Kemppainen has signed to play basketball with Montana Tech in Butte this fall.

Kemppainen joins the Orediggers after leading the Wildkats to back-to-back Class A state tournament third-place finishes. The 5-foot-10 forward was named Northwest Class A All-State and first-team All-Conference.

“Winter is an extremely athletic player who can get to the basket and score,” Orediggers coach Carly VanDyke said. “She works hard, and we are excited to have her in our program.”

Kemppainen led the Kats to two consecutive conference championships and averaged 11 points and eight rebounds during her senior season.

“I chose Montana Tech because I believe it will provide me with every opportunity to achieve my goals and dreams,” Kemppainen said. “This is a place where I will always feel comfortable.”

Kemppainen plans on majoring in biology/pre-med at Montana Tech.
