Memorial Day ceremonies
United Veterans of the Flathead Valley will present military honors at various locations and cemeteries around the Flathead Valley on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. The public is invited to attend these ceremonies at any location.
10:30 a.m. Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery
11 a.m. Veterans Memorial, Depot Park, Kalispell
11:45 a.m. VFW Luncheon, Post 2252, Kalispell
12:45 p.m. Conrad Cemetery, retire and raise flag
1:45 p.m. Fairview Cemetery
2:30 p.m. Veterans Memorial, Marantette Park, Columbia Falls
3 p.m. Woodlawn Cemetery, Columbia Falls
3:30 p.m. Veterans Home Cemetery
The Columbia Falls American Legion Freedom Post 72 will be busy over the Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, they will meet at the Veterans Wall in Marantette Park to do touch-up cleaning. Next, they will go out along Highway 40 and U.S. 2 to repaint and repair the fatality crosses, from the bridge over the Whitefish River to Coram.
On Monday at 1 p.m., they will assemble at the Veterans Wall before the ceremony held at the U.S. 2 bridge over the Flathead River to honor of veterans lost at sea. Following that, they will return to Marantette Park to honor and reveal the post’s first Veterans Memorial plaque at 2 p.m. sharp.
