Canyon dinners

Canyon Community Dinners will celebrate its one year anniversary of serving dinners at the Canyon Elementary School in Hungry Horse on Thursday, March 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The group serves a free nutritious meal at the school on the last Thursday of each month. All are welcome to attend this month’s celebration and meal.

Senior party

Parents of graduating seniors at Columbia Falls High School are raising funds for this year’s chaperoned graduation party to be held at the gym. Anyone wanting to donate items or help can call Kristine at 270-2097, Molly at 212-2573, Shelly at 314-1595 or Pam at 212-0168.

Bakery grant

The Polebridge Mercantile recently was awarded a $20,000 grant from the state’s Growth Through Agriculture program. The money will be used to help the North Fork-based business expand into its second location at Stumptown Market in Whitefish and to purchase huckleberries and other local produce needed for its baked goods.

Music fundraiser

American Legion

Columbia Falls American Legion Freedom Post 72 will hold its first major fundraiser at the Columbia Falls Fire Hall on Saturday, March 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a full spaghetti dinner. Door prizes include oil changes and a Nikon rifle scope. Tickets cost $8 per person or $20 per family. All proceeds will be used for veterans programs supported by the local post. Senior party

The Columbia Falls High School senior class is selling two-month passes to The Wave as a fundraiser for its senior party. The passes are $40 and can be purchased Super 1 Foods, Glacier Bank, Freedom Bank, Park Side Federal Credit Union and Whitefish Credit Union until March 21.

Community choir

The Columbia Falls Community Choir will present two free spring concerts in the Columbia Falls High School Little Theater on Saturday, March 28, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. Directed by Ron Bond and accompanied by Dawn Hashley, the 95 choir members have been meeting weekly since January. Music will range from jazz to classical to spiritual. Donations will be accepted.

Fire board

There are two openings on the Flathead County Fire Service Area Advisory Board, one for a resident of the Middle Fork Area and one for an active firefighter. Community band

The Flathead Valley Community Band will present their free spring concert at the Flathead High School auditorium on Wednesday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Allen Slater. The concert’s theme is “A Celebration of Americana” and will include the world premier of “Lullaby For A Sweet Soul” by local composer Craig Thomas Naylor. Freethought

The Flathead Area Secular Humanist Association will present Part 2 of the video series “American Freethought” in a free showing at the ImagineIF Library in Kalispell on Monday, March 23, at 6 p.m. This segment will look at how the abolition movement seeded the women’s rights and freethought movements. Celtic festival

Rob Eberhardy, of Kalispell, the host of the Celtic Knot Radio Show, has started a Kickstarter campaign for a Flathead Celtic Festival. He hopes to raise $2,750 through $10 donations to provide Highland games, music, food, vendors, clans, historical societies and more. CFAC picnic

The annual AAC/ARCO/CFAC employees picnic is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, at Lawrence Park in Kalispell. Book sale

The American Association of University Women’s Kalispell Branch will host its annual used book sale on April 16-19 in the Kalispell Center Mall. Creston auction

The Creston Fire Department will host the 49th annual Creston Auction & Country Fair and the accompanying RV, Marine, Auto & Equipment Sale on Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12. This benefit for the all-volunteer fire department is the largest spring event in Montana and draws thousands of people from throughout the region and Canada. Consignment Day is Friday, April 10, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The sale grounds in Creston will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The vehicle and equipment sale will begin at noon on Sunday.
