Twins go .500 at Idaho tourney

The Glacier Twins went 2-2 at the Prairie Cardinal Tournament in Post Falls, Idaho last week.

They beat the East Valley Knights 14-2 and the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups 8-0, but lost to the Spokane Dodgers 11-3 and to Columbia Basin 8-3 in the three-day American Legion baseball tourney from Friday to Sunday in Idaho.

The Twins are now 16-10 overall.

Earlier in the week the Twins clobbered Libby 20-9 on June 10.

In the Libby game Vinny Smith was 4 for 7 at the plate, driving in two runs for the Twins. He was one of four Glacier players with a multi-RBI game. Colten Parker tripled, Derek Kastella and Kaleb Veneman also drove in two runs for the Twins.

Smith, Kyler Howke and Austin Robins scored three runs each for Glacier.

Jonny Sapa earned the win on the mound for the Twins. The righty threw five innings, striking out as many batters while allowing just two earned runs.

The Twins played the Mission Mariners away Tuesday after presstime and then travel to Cranbrook, British Columbia, for a game on Saturday.
