The Columbia Falls boys swim team took fourth at the Great Falls Invitational Saturday, outpacing Class A rival Billings Central by 20 points. The girls were ninth. Combined, the team took seventh overall.

The meet featured all relay races. The boys won the 200 butterfly relay with a time of 1:49.49, took second in the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:38.80, fourth in the 200 medley with a 1:54.16, fifth in the 200 backstroke relay with a 2:02.79, third in the 200 free relay with a 1:38.75 and fifth in the 200 mixed medley with a 1:53.80.

The girls took seventh in the 200 breaststroke relay with a 2:39.46.

“This meet is a great opportunity to see the swimmers in many different events, as a team,” coach Mike Nelson said. “The coaching staff gets to see some hidden talent and move forward for the rest of the season.”

The team travels to Missoula Jan. 9 after Christmas break.
