Seven selected for Wildcat Hall of Fame

On Saturday, the Columbia Falls High School will induct seven athletes into the athletic hall of fame. Included this year are Connor Bowman, Ciera Finberg, Ty Morgan, Samantha Mundel, Carla Nicosia, Shonn Roberts and Winter Kemppainen.

Here’s a short biography of each athlete:

Connor Bowman was a standout athlete in football, basketball, track and field and lacrosse. He won the Tom Dumay Award in 2015, was the football team defensive player in 2013, teammate of the year in 2013, and second team all-conference linebacker in 2013-2014. In lacrosse he was an all-state and all-conference midfielder and in track an all-conference pole vaulter in 2013.

Ciera Finberg was an all-state selection in basketball in 2015, all conference in 2013, ‘14, ‘15 and conference MVP in 2015. She held the school record in volleyball kills with 395 and was all-conference in volleyball in 2013 and 2014 and was the co-Dumay award winner in 2015.

Ty Morgan held the state record for receiving yards per game in football with 133.4 yards per game. Was an all-conference wide receiver and cornerback in 2013 and 2014 and the team offensive MVP in 2013-14. In basketball he was all-state in 2015 and in 2014 he helped lead the Wildcats to a state A championship, hitting clutch free-throws down the stretch. Morgan was the conference MVP in 2015 and was all-state in 2015. He holds the school record in points in a season with 433. He was all-state in track in the 400 and 100 relays and has numerous other track awards.

Samantha Mundel was the 2015 state Class A champion in the 3,200 meters in track in 2014 and 2015 and state champ in the 1,600 meters in 2015. In cross-country she was the conference and state A champion in 2014. She has numerous other cross country and track awards as well.

Carla Nicosia was a standout player in volleyball and track. She was all-conference in volleyball in 2014 and led the team in kills that season. She has numerous track and field awards, including a state A championship in the triple jump in 2015, a third place in the high jump and a fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles. 

Shonn Roberts was an outstanding wrestler with three state A titles in 2012, ‘13, ‘14 and a second place in 2015. He was Montana wrestler of the year in 2014 and holds the school record for most falls in a season with 33 and a school best single-season record of 39-0. His overall record was 146-7.

Winter Kemppainen was a standout athlete in basketball, softball and volleyball. She was all-state in basketball in 2014 and 2015, was co-MVP in 2015 and the team’s rebounding leader. In volleyball she was all-state in 2014 and in softball she was all-conference shortstop in 2014 and was all-tourney team in 2013.
