Bigfork Gun Club provides support for youth programs
It was extremely heartening and a source of pride two weeks ago to read how a group of Bigfork-area teenagers are enjoying and successfully competing around the state, region and even nationally as the Bigfork Competitors shotgun trap shooters.
While building and honing life-long individual skills and teamwork, the kids are shining examples of how responsibly owning and using firearms does not automatically render one a crazed, demonic terrorist. The various shooting sports are among the few where kids, mom and dad, grandma and grandpa can enjoy themselves side by side on equal footing.
After reading the article, however, the average inquiring mind might wonder, “Gosh, where do these youngsters practice and get considerable support?” That would be at the Bigfork Gun Club out on Swan Highway 83.
Bigfork Gun Club is a major sponsor of youth shooting sports programs, whether a local competitive team such as the Bigfork Competitors, through 4-H or Boy Scouts of America, or via various outdoors and conservation programs as Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks hunters safety training.
Bigfork Gun Club provides time, venue, reduced-cost materials, and experienced volunteers. The club is committed to helping Bigfork-area youths learn shooting skills, safety and sportsmanship.
