Bigfork High School’s tennis double teams got on a roll this week, winning the majority of their matches.

The Vikings and Valkyries travelled to Ronan on Monday to make up an early season match that was rained out.

The Vals sailed to an easy victory over Ronan, losing only one match to the Maidens.

The Vikings struggled in singles against Ronan but dominated in doubles with duos of Issac Martel and Adam Jordt and number one and Ben Russell and George Gibson at number two, both dominating their opponents.

Martel and Jordt were coming off a tournament win in Libby on Saturday, where Russell and Gibson lost in the semifinal match. Girls double teams also performed well in Libby with Brooke Bonner and Alauna Weilacher placing first, and Sophie Hasselmeier and Jamie Berg taking second. The girls also fared well in singles, with Lana Berg placing first and Kalia Wicklund placing second.

Last Tuesday the Vikes and Vals hosted Whitefish in their second meeting of the season.

The Whitefish boys swept singles and the girls swept doubles.

Whitefish’s Max Smyley topped Kyle Thomson at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-1, in the closest match of the day.

Martel and Jordt won in doubles, the only win for the Vikings in the dual.

The Bulldog girls edged Bigfork in three of four three-set matches to make the difference in the dual. Heather Luedke topped Wicklund 10-6 in the final set.

Park won a three-set match at No. 3 singles. Berg won in straight sets at No. 1 singles to pick up the other point for the Valkyries.

On Friday the Vikes and Vals will head back to Libby to play both Libby and Troy in matches.

On Saturday the team will travel to Loyola for a tournament.
