On libraries

| April 17, 2015 6:22 AM

Libraries? At best, a collection of books and reading materials for study, research and entertainment. At worst, perhaps, social centers for gamers on computers.

Remodeling? Why? Having recently visited the Columbia Falls branch library, I saw no need for a hard hat and steel-toe boots “dangerous shelving.” Also no need for painting and carpeting was apparent either.

Books and periodicals could, however, be improved in many areas of the library. Perhaps Kim Crowley in her wisdom could spend the $100,000 already allotted if she wants cosmetics and frills to “glitz up” the library, rather than use it for what real libraries need: Books and quality periodicals.

ImagineIF perhaps should instead have a permanent table at ... Starbucks. Leave Library Association money for real good use: Books and periodicals.
