For the first time in Steve Hullett’s 31 years of coaching Bigfork High School golf, the boys won their own Invitational.

Bigfork boys clinched the win at home on Thursday at Eagle Bend Golf Club with 337 strokes.

Junior Joseph Potkonjak led the way, placing second overall with a 74. He was followed by Colton Stodghill who tied for fifth with 84 and Jonathan Landon who tied for tenth with 88. Augie Emslie shot 91 and Jacob Haberlock 99.

“They’re starting to play up to their potential,” Hullett said. “I knew that we had the right group of kids, and if they took it seriously and started doing what they need to do, it could be a real good year.”

The team travelled to Ronan on Tuesday, and are scheduled to head to Eureka next week and then Thompson Falls.

“I’m optimistic,” Hullett said, about upcoming tournaments. “I think they’ve got a real shot at winning the next three if they knuckle down and do what they’re capable of. It’s fun to see them finally playing to their potential. I think there’s better things to come.”

Kallister Meagher was the only golfer for Valkyries at the home meet. She finished tenth with 116.
