The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a quake registering 3.6 magnitude shook the Flathead Valley on Saturday, April 11,  at around 12:45 a.m.

The quake was centered about two miles south-southeast of Somers at a depth of about 4.4 miles underground.

The USGS reported that people in local communities reported feeling the quake, including Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Somers, Kila, Whitefish and Polson — and even as far away as Spokane, Wash.

Montana is one of the most seismically active states, but most recorded earthquakes are small, cause no damage and rarely are noticed by people.
