After three successful years in Bigfork Montana Adventure Sports is moving to Kalispell.

Owner Renny Johnson said a lot of things contributed to the move. One major factor was their lease is up on their Bigfork space, and the building’s owner is looking to sell.  Then they found a nice location for the store in Kalispell on First Avenue East, near Depot Park, which will suit the business’s rebranding.

Along with the move the shop is changing their name to MAS Bikes.

“When we first opened up we wanted to be more of a full multi-sports store,” Johnson said. “We’ve since decided to focus down on what we’re really known for, and that’s the bikes.”

Though bikes will be the store’s primary focus, Johnson said they will still be able to order other items for people via their websites, such as paddle boards. They just won’t keep them on the floor of the shop.

Moving the shop to Kalispell will also provide new opportunities for the business, and Johnson hopes they will be able to do more group rides, expand their youth cycling team, and perhaps start an adult cycling team.

“That’s a big push for us. We really want to expand our community,” he said.

Kalispell has some great spots for group bike rides, he said, like the Foys to Blacktail trails. “It’s just going to open up a lot more opportunity for us.”

In Bigfork, Johnson has been a key player in trying to get more bike paths built around Bigfork, and he plans to stay involved in the effort despite the relocation.

“I’m still going to help out as much as I can to get more bike lanes built around Bigfork,” he said. “We need bike lanes ringing our community.”

Johnson said he’s received a lot of support regarding the move, and plans to still spend time in Bigfork.

“Bigfork has treated us so well, we love this town,” he said. “I have met so many wonderful people here, I really feel like I am part of the community.”
