Robin Broers

| April 6, 2015 6:09 AM

Robin Mary Broers, age 59, passed away March 29, 2015 in Kalispell.

She was born May 27, 1955 to Dale and Betty Broderick in Spokane, Wash., the fifth in a most unusual family of nine children, six of whom had myotonic dystrophy, including Robin.

When she was three, the family moved to Billings, Kalispell and then settled in Butte in 1964. Robin graduated from Butte Central High School in 1975.

Robin met her husband of 37 years, Henry, in Butte. Henry was a graduate of petroleum engineering from Montana Tech, and so they started their journey of following the oil rigs from Arkansas and surrounding states to England, Scotland and Ireland. She was able to travel through Europe during their time there and loved to tell stories about the people she met along the way. They moved back to Montana where they bought and ran the Crooked Tree Motel and RV Park for the past 29 years.

She was a supporter of the Special Olympics and was also a member of the Canyon Women’s Pool League. Robin volunteered at Head Start in Hungry Horse and worked for Head Start in Butte.

Even though Robin herself had myotonic dystrophy, she and her sisters Nancy and Barb were able to continue to care for their other four siblings remaining in Butte for the past 20 years until their passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack and Kevin Broderick; and sisters Christine, Denise and Elaine Broderick, all of Butte.

Robin is survived by he husband Henry Broers and son Christian, of Hungry Horse; sisters Nancy Ludwick and husband Tom, of Spokane, Wash., Barb Cannon, of Portland, Ore., Patricia B. Miller, of New Hampshire, and Susan Mohnasky, of Connecticut; brother Mike Broderick, of Redwood, Wash.; two aunts, two uncles and numerous nephews and cousins.

Service will take place at the Hungry Horse Chapel in Hungry Horse on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. Immediately following the burial at Woodlawn Cemetery there will be a reception at Hungry Horse Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
