Bigfork golf opens season with a fourth place in Missoula tourney
Bigfork High School golfers started out their season last week at the Loyola Invitational golf tournament in Missoula.
The Bigfork Boys finished fourth as a team, and Joseph Potkonjak placed ninth (89-79—168).
“They didn’t play particularly well, but there’s some promise,” head coach Steve Hullett said.
Besides a solid performance from Potkonjak, Hullett said he was pleased with the freshman Augie Emslie (90-97—187).
“He did well for his first tournament,” Hullett said. “He’ll be pushing the boys hard.”
Bigfork had one girl play both days of the tournament, Melissa Paulson. Kallister Meagher played one day. Four golfers are required to compete as a team
Over all Hullett said the season is shaping up.
“I think it’s got potential of being a good year if they do what I think they’re capable of,” Hullett said.
The next tournament for the golf team will be at home at Eagle Bend Golf Club on April 9.
