Michael Islas

Michael Islas, 50, died Oct. 26, 2014, after a hard fight with cancer.

He was born in Cutler, Calif., on Feb. 7, 1964. Upon graduating from high school, he moved to Visalia, Calif., where he lived until 2009. He then moved to Kalispell where he married Joan Copenhaver on Oct. 14, 2009.

He worked as an ice technician for the Ice House and drove over-the-road truck for many years.

Michael is survived by his wife Joan Islas; sons Michael Jr., Esteven and Jonathon Islas, all of Visalia; mother Mary Islas, of Orsi, Calif.; stepdaughter April Walker and son-in-law Joe Vanzant, of Columbia Falls; grandchildren Samantha and Madison Collins, and Slyde and Nadalia Vanzant, of Columbia Falls; brothers Desiderio Islas Jr., of Killeen, Texas, David Islas, of Orsi, Calif., and Jamie Islas, of Honolulu; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing will be held at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home, in Kalispell on Saturday, Nov. 1,  from 9 a.m. to noon. A funeral service for Michael will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
