Swim team

We would like to thank the businesses and community who contributed to our fundraising event for the Columbia-Whitefish Swim Team this past summer.

The “flamingo flocking,” along with a generous donation from Plum Creek Timber Co. and other anonymous donors, have enabled us to meet our goal to have a combined Columbia Falls-Whitefish high school swim team in 2014-15.

Our coach, Mike Nelson, has been hired and is already planning for the swim season. The season will begin Nov. 20, with the first swim meet on Dec. 6 in Kalispell.

Since we are completely self-supported, we continue to fundraise. It’s our goal to be funded one year in advance so the upcoming season is never in jeopardy.

With that, you can expect to see swimmers selling raffle tickets this November with some great prizes, and the return of the flamingos in the spring of 2015.

As we look forward to our inaugural swim season, thanks again to all of you who contributed.
