Homecoming

Columbia Falls High School celebrates homecoming this week. A homecoming pep assembly will take place at the school on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The Booster Club will have a barbecue at the football field starting at 6 p.m., and the homecoming football game against Frenchtown will start at 7 p.m. The homecoming royalty will be crowned during halftime. The homecoming dance will take place in the high school cafeteria on Saturday starting at 8 p.m.

Parents meeting

School District 6 will hold a Title 1 parent meeting for all parents and families at Columbia Falls Junior High School on Thursday, Oct. 23, starting with a spaghetti dinner at 5:30 p.m. Parents are asked to RSVP to their child’s school by Thursday, Oct. 16.

Scholarship

Cheyannne Flickinger, of Columbia Falls, is one of five Northwest Montana high school students to receive a Horatio Alger Montana Scholarship award this year. Fifty students from across the state will receive $6,000 from the program funded by the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation. The University of Montana will add $5,000 to that amount. The $11,000 will be disbursed over the course of the students’ college careers.

Geocaching

Flathead Valley Community College and students in the Natural Resources Conservation and Management program will offer their second annual Geocache Adventure on the FVCC campus on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Geocaching is an outdoor recreational scavenger hunt using global positioning system (GPS) coordinates. The course will be designed for families and children ages 12-and-under with 10 caches hidden around the immediate campus. For more information, contact Relyea at 756-3946 or crelyea@fvcc.edu.
