The Columbia Falls girls soccer team sits undefeated in conference play after they dropped Polson and Whitefish last week.

The Wildkats beat the Lady Pirates 2-1 on Sept. 25 at home and then knocked off the Lady Bulldogs 1-0 on Sept. 27 away.

Ellie Johnson scored the lone goal for the Kats at the 37th minute of the Whitefish game, and then the Kats held on for the win. Both teams had equal shots on goal at 14, but Columbia Falls controlled the ball better.

“We won the ball more and that was the difference,” coach Greg Trenerry said.

Johnson had a couple more good looks, but the shots were either stopped or just wide. She’s emerged as the team’s offensive leader. At right wing, she’s either setting up her teammates with beautiful crossing passes or knocking them in herself.

Keeper Allyson Gimbel also had a solid game, stopping 10 shots against the Lady Bulldogs.

Against Polson, freshman Hannah Gedlaman scored at the 21-minute mark on a feed from Katie Price, and Lottie Ellis had her second goal in as many games on a pass from Johnson.

The girls are now 4-0 in conference play and 5-1-2 overall.
