On public preschool

| November 17, 2014 8:50 AM

Wow, I recently read that Gov. Steve Bullock and a large group of constituents are pondering the idea of state government run preschool to the tune of $37 million.

Would this cover teacher salaries and benefits? What about buildings for the new classrooms? This would all fall on local communities and increase the local tax burden, which is already high enough.

What about the private sector pre-school teachers? It would put them out of business, resulting in more people unemployed and not paying into the tax system. Is the government getting into the business of taking over all private sector jobs?

But maybe I’m looking at this the wrong way. Why doesn’t Gov. Bullock and his liberal Democratic constituents just take our children away from us at birth, indoctrinate them to their way of thinking from the beginning, lift the burden of raising children from their parents, and let the parents and everyone in society go on and live the “utopian dream” unbounded?
