Doris Mattheisen

Doris Jean Mattheisen, 89, of Columbia Falls, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 2, 2014.

She was born May 31, 1925, in Shelby County, Ind., to Ralph and Mary Weinantz. After graduating from high school, she married Donald George Mattheisen on May 2, 1954, and moved with him to his family’s homestead in Columbia Falls, where they lived for most of her life.

Doris was a member of the Badrock Busy Bees, Christian Women’s Fellowship and Eastern Star, among other clubs and organizations. She was very active in the First Christian Church in Columbia Falls and later the Central Christian Church in Kalispell.

She loved playing pinochle with her friends and neighbors and attended pinochle parties at the Badrock Fire Hall and Columbia Falls Senior Center.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, sister Barbara Austin and her parents.

Doris is survived by her brother Maurice Weinantz, of Flat Rock, Ind.; son Tom Mattheisen and wife Hannah, of Kalispell; grandchildren Micheal, of Everett, Wash., and Jenniffer, of Columbia Falls; great grandchildren Austin, Jayden and Alexis; niece Elsa Austin Geis and her children in Indiana; sister-in-law Evelyn Mattheisen and family; as well as several cousins and extended family members.

A memorial service for Doris will be held at the Central Christian Church, 248 Second Avenue East, in Kalispell, on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m.  with a luncheon to follow.

The family wishes that any memorials/donations be made to the Central Christian Church in her honor.
