Stodghill advances to state golf tournament

Despite having home turf advantage Bigfork golfers struggled at the divisional Class B tournament Tuesday at Eagle Bend Golf Club.

Only one Bigfork golfer placed in the top 15 to advance to the state tournament next weekend in Fairmont. 

Freshman Colton Stodghill shot an 89 tying for 12th with two other golfers.

“He’s pretty excited,” coach Steve Hullett said.

Though the rest of the Bigfork players struggled Hullett noted that it was just one of those days.

“They’ve been improving all season long,” he said. “They could go out tomorrow and all do better.”

The tournament, however ran smoothly, despite a tiebreaker between Loyola and Thompson Falls. Hullett wanted to thank everyone who volunteered as markers and scorekeepers, as well as the Eagle Bend Golf Club.
