Daniel Dowd

Daniel Lee Dowd, 65 died peacefully from complications after fighting his battle with cancer on April 30, 2014.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1948, to James and Ruth Dowd (Hendricks) in Topeka, Kan. He was raised in Broomfield, Colo., and loved the outdoors.  

In 1970, he married Linda Sheridan (Hoerner), and in 1974 they moved to Montana. In 1979, they adopted a baby girl through Catholic Social Services whom they named Callie.

Danny worked for many years at Plum Creek and then started guiding in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, James Dowd and Ruth Hendricks.

Survivors include his brother Randy Dowd, of Colorado; sister Cherie Arends and husband Bob; daughter Callie Scheeler;  niece and nephew Kady and Kaleb Arends; grandchildren Douglas, Eli and Megan Scheeler; roommate Charlie Alexander; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A potluck celebration of life will be held for Danny at the Arends house, 514 Kokanee Circle, in Columbia Falls on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. Ashes will be spread at a later date in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, as this was Danny’s last wish.
