Twins split against Red Sox

Columbia Falls outfielder Colton Gove hit a walk-off double to give the Glacier Twins American Legion A baseball team a split in a doubleheader against Bitterroot at Memorial Field in Whitefish on June 22.

Gove went 2 for 4 in the nightcap, with four RBIs in the 10-8 win. The Red Sox had a six-run rally of their own to tie the game.

The Twins shot out to a 6-1 lead in the first, but the Red Sox scored five in the top of the third to make 8-6. The Sox scored a run in the top of the fourth and tied the game in the top of the sixth.

Tristan Steinwand, Kyler Howke, Jesse Walburn and Vincent Smith all had RBIs in the win. The Twins racked up 15 hits in the win.

In the first game, the Red Sox roughed up pitcher Jonny Sapa, as Bitterroot won 11-4. Jayce Fagerland had two RBIs in the loss and continues to hit the ball well. He hit .500 in the two games.

The Twins were scheduled to play a doubleheader at Libby on Tuesday after presstime and then host the Ed Gallo Tournament this weekend.
