The fourth annual Crown Summer Guitar Celebration is June 22 at 4 p.m. in Bigfork.

The event will feature two dynamic artists, Chuck Pyle and the John Floridis Trio.

Pyle mixes infectiously hummable melodies with straight-from-the-saddle poetry. His songs have been recorded by John Denver, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Suzy Bogguss. Many know him best for writing “Cadillac Cowboy” which was recorded by the late Chris LeDoux, and “Jaded Lover,” recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker.

Floridis is a talented and energetic acoustic guitarist and songwriter whose trio received a Northwest Emmy Award in 2013 for an appearance on the PBS television series 11th and  Grant with Eric Funk. His trio mates include Ed Stalling on drums and bassist John Sporman.

The Crown event will be at BruMar Estate and will accommodate all kinds of Montana weather situations. Weather permitting, it will be outside on the lawn. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, as well as a full no-host bar.

Gates open at 3 p.m. for the event put on by the Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation, organizers of the Crown Guitar Workshop and Festival.

The festival is Aug. 24-31 at Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork.

Grammy-award winner Dweezil Zappa, son of the late Frank Zappa, the famous iconic rocker of the 60s and 70s era, will be joining the lineup of Artists in Residence for the 2014 Crown Guitar Workshop and Festival.

Zappa will join a platinum group of master guitarists, each of whom will each of whom will teach master classes and be featured in evening public performances at the Crown Guitar Festival during the week. They include singer/songwriter John Oates of the multi-Grammy Award nominated Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo, Hall and Oates; Jazz guitar legend, Lee Ritenour, also a multi-Grammy nominee and award winner; Jazz and Fusion guitarist Mike Stern, who in 2007 was honored with the Miles Davis Award created to recognize internationally acclaimed jazz artists; Shelby Lynne, an Americana music singer and songwriter who holds a 1999 Grammy Award for Best New Artist; Blues guitarist singer/songwriter, Ana Popovic, owner of a 2014 ‘Contemporary Blues Female Artist’ of the year title; and classical guitar virtuoso David Leisner, an electrifying performing artist, distinguished composer, and master teacher.

The workshop is celebrating its fifth year.
