Ella Mae Stevens

Ella Mae Stevens, 75, passed away at the Montana Veterans Home on July 8, 2014, after a long battle with breast cancer.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1938, to Elmer and Goldie Rhodes in Kalispell. She grew up in the Flathead and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1956.

Ella Mae went on to Kinman Business College and continued her education at Flathead Valley Community College over the years.

Ella Mae and her daughter moved to Seattle where she met and married Harley Duane Stevens; they were married for 33 years. The family moved back to the Flathead after several years in Seattle, and then moved to Sweetgrass where Ella and Harley both worked at the brokerages for the port on the U.S.-Canada border.

Ella Mae is survived by her daughter Vicki Stevens Woods and husband Dave, of Missoula; sisters Ruby Rhodes, of Turner, Ore., and Velma Treat and husband Ike, of Eureka; sister-in-law Kitty Rhodes, of Columbia Falls; brother and sister-in-law Steve and Mary Stevens, of West Glacier; and several other relatives.  

Funeral services will be held at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery.
