Hungry Horse News announces new publisher
Dan Drewry has joined the Hungry Horse News as publisher.
A newspaper industry veteran, Drewry comes from the Shoshone News-Press in Osburn, Idaho, where he served as publisher for 21 years. For the past 10 years, he also served as publisher of the Lake County Leader in Polson, the Clark Fork Valley Press in Plains, and the Mineral Independent in Superior.
Drewry, 61, grew up in Wisconsin and first visited the Flathead Valley in the summer of 1973 after riding a freight train from Minnesota to Seattle.
He holds a degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Drewry worked nearly 15 years as a reporter and editor before moving into advertising and management.
He is married to his high school sweetheart, Chris Drewry, and has two grown sons, Rob and David, who live in Seattle.
Outside of publishing, Drewry stays busy playing in the mountains and enjoying the outdoors.
“Camping, whitewater boating, fishing — you name it,” he said.
He recently took up backcountry skiing and is anxious to explore the nearby slopes.
As a Wisconsin native, he bleeds Green Bay Packer green and gold.
Drewry says he’s eager to get started with the Hungry Horse News and learn more about the community.
“The Hungry Horse News routinely sets the standard for its news coverage and I’m excited to be a part of the team,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting involved with the community. I invite everyone to drop by the office to say hello.”
