Special Olympics Montana announces that the 2014 State Winter Games is returning to Whitefish Mountain Resort Feb. 23-25.

Athletes train for a minimum of eight weeks in alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing or snowshoeing to prepare for the 2014 Special Olympics Montana Winter Games.  More than 300 athletes are expected, along with 150 coaches from 25 communities across Montana. All of this is accomplished with the support of nearly 250 volunteers.

The public is invited to line Central Avenue from 3rd Street to Railway Street in Whitefish for the Parade of Athletes beginning at 4 p.m. on Feb. 23, and then accompany the athletes to the opening ceremonies in Depot Park.
