Three points about Democrats

| February 6, 2014 8:23 AM

In response to Bob McClellan’s letter in the Daily Inter Lake dated Jan. 31, “Republicans need to clean up act,” as an independent voter, I take exception to your letter and will take a moment to disagree.

1) The Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, is a law now, but so was the 18th Amendment (Prohibition) at one time. The uninsured individuals it was designed to cover are not signing up, yet 6 million covered Americans have now lost their policies.

My per-the-government “substandard” coverage will be re-evaluated in April. At that time I will be required to pay for maternity, plus pediatric dental and eye care.

My children are grown and I am in my mid-50s, so why am I paying for coverage I don’t and will never need? Along with paying for abortions and birth control that I don’t believe in. Will I have to buy helicopter insurance even if I don’t fly one?

2) Our president and Hillary Clinton knew within hours that the attack in Benghazi was a terrorist attack but chose to lie to the America public in the following days that the cause was a video which they together apologized for.

No one has been apprehended for the death of four Americans, yet the individual that created the video went to jail. They have not repealed the First Amendment, have they?

Ms. Clinton will have to answer to that at some point, and I don’t think she will be able to “make mincemeat” out of anyone asking the tough questions about what she stated was her biggest regret. Her only regret is she was caught.

3) Do you know how many bills the Republicans have submitted concerning immigration, their version of health care, and many more solutions for this country to a “my way or the highway” president?

Yes, the Republicans disagree among themselves on many issues, unlike Democrats, who follow blindly. Current polls indicate that independent voters are dissatisfied with the direction our country is going, and most people are against the Affordable Care Act as it stands today.

Fox News has twice the viewers that CNN and MSNBC have, which means people want the most fair and balanced coverage that is available. Let me take this opportunity to say hello to the NSA and the IRS.

Bob, we are fortunate to have this debate in our great country. God bless the United States.
