Babe Ruth says thanks

As the year comes to an end, the Glacier Babe Ruth board of trustees would like to take this time to reflect on the 2014 season. This was a year of firsts. We were able to field seven regular season teams, compared to six in past years. Nearly 90 kids ages 13-15 from Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Whitefish enjoyed Glacier Babe Ruth’s regular season and end-of-season tournament.

Glacier Babe Ruth hosted the 14U Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament. We welcomed 10 teams from our region into the Flathead Valley to play at our fields in Columbia Falls and Whitefish. Our Glacier Babe Ruth 14U All Star team took third place in the tournament, consisting of teams from Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Canada.

The Glacier Babe Ruth 13U All Star team won the state tournament and the regional tournament and earned the Pacific Northwest spot in the Babe Ruth World Series, hosted by Glenn Allen, Va. This was only the second time that a Montana team has made it to the Babe Ruth World Series. In 1983, Glacier Babe Ruth sent a team to represent the Pacific Northwest in the World Series.

The Glacier Babe Ruth 15U team took second in state after back-to-back state championships in 2012 and 2013. Clearly our communities have great athletes and coaches who are representing Glacier Babe Ruth and the Flathead Valley on a national level.

All of this success isn’t possible without our generous sponsors and supporters who donate time, materials and money to the Glacier Babe Ruth program. The Glacier Babe Ruth board is very conscious of our sponsors and how integral their involvement in our program is to its success.
