Columbia Falls Junior High School cross-country runners James Role and Kimberly Peacock will head off to Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Dec. 13 to run in the U.S. Track and Field Junior Olympic Championships.

Role, a six-grader, recently took eighth place at a regional cross-country qualifying meet in Bozeman, clocking a 12:54 in the three-kilometer race. Peacock, a seventh-grader, took third in the 4K race with a time of 16:32.

The two runners have been training for the races on their own. Role has even been running at night, followed by his parents in a car.

The two are doing some fundraising to pay for expenses associated with the cross country event. For more information or to help, call Jim Peacock at 892-0299.
