Stanley Buck

Stanley G. Buck, 78, passed away July 23, 2014, at his home in Columbia Falls.

Stanley was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on March 22, 1936. He was the first of nine children born to Frances Hubbard and Dale Buck.

He attended school in Minnesota before joining the Air Force, where he served in the Azores Islands.

He was united in marriage to Betty Graham on March 11, 1960, a union which lasted 49 1/2  years before her death. He and Betty had two children, Faith and Dale (deceased).

In 1971, he relocated to the Flathead Valley, where he engaged in logging and heavy equipment operation. He was employed by Canyon Logging and Royal Logging for more than 20 years before retiring due to a work-related injury.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. One of his greatest joys was catching the second largest record-setting northern pike.

On May 7, 2011, Stanley married Grace Benesh, of Kalispell, who saved him in his hour of need after the passing of Betty. She survives at the family home.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; son Dale; parents Dale and Frances; sisters Wilda, Linda and Barbara; and brother Swede.

He is survived by Grace Buck and stepdaughters Alycia and Astrea Bennes; daughter Faith Calderwood and husband Dean, of Columbia Falls; brothers Jim Buck, of Minnesota, and Gary Buck, of Missouri; sisters Judy Brenny, of Texas, and Sharon Thomsen, of Minnesota; grandchildren Kelly Speer, Lauri Speer, Eric Speer, Brittany Calderwood, Jacob Calderwood, Emily Calderwood, Chris Calderwood, Trish Ervin, Jenny King and Brian Calderwood; 17 great grandchildren; stepmother-in-law Lorna Buck; and many loving friends.

Memorial services were held at Columbia Mortuary on July 28, 2014. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery.
