Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks reports that a young female grizzly was released near Whale Creek in the North Fork on Sunday, Sept. 15.

According to grizzly bear management specialist Tim Manley, the bear was captured Sept. 14 near Spotted Bear, at the south end of the Hungry Horse Reservoir, after it had gotten into food attractants in an open vehicle.

The bear was originally captured near Coram several years ago when it was a cub accompanied by an adult female and a sibling. The bears were getting into apples.

FWP reminds residents to secure all attractants, including picking apples as soon as they are ripe. As fall progresses, bears are seeking high calorie foods in preparation for denning.
