The last day to access Glacier National Park’s Logan Pass by vehicle from the east will be Sunday, Sept. 22.

The closing of the east side of Going-to-the-Sun Road at St. Mary Campground will allow construction to accelerate. Vehicle access to Logan Pass will be available from the west through Sunday, Oct. 20, weather permitting.

Access this fall to hiking trails between Rising Sun and Logan Pass will be limited during this period. Visitors wanting to hike any trails with a trailhead along the east side of the Sun Road, are encouraged to contact the park at 888-7800 before departing.

Trails that are affected access Siyeh Pass, Piegan Pass, Otokomi Lake, St. Mary Falls, Baring Falls, Virginia Falls, Gunsight Lake, Sperry Chalet and Red Eagle Lake. For more information on the status of trails and access, visit online at www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/trailstatusreports.htm.

Access to some backcountry camp sites on the east side will also be affected. All backcountry campers are required to have a permit from Glacier Park, which must be obtained from the Apgar Permit Center this time of the year. For more information on backcountry camping and trail access, call the Park at 888-7800 or visit online at www.nps.gov/glac.
