Police calls: Numerous reports of bears getting into garbage

Monday, Sept. 30

3:32 p.m. A woman possibly on drugs was with a small child at a bar on U.S. 93 South. Police intervened and the child was put in custody of her grandmother.

6:28 p.m. A black bear was seen on Iowa Avenue headed toward Wisconsin Avenue.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

2:31 p.m. Report of three guns stolen from a woman’s vehicle on Tumblehome Avenue.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

7:03 a.m. Report of a bear getting into garbage on Birch Point Drive.

10:23 a.m. Criminal mischief damage to a vehicle was reported on East 2nd Street.

11:06 a.m. Report of residents on Ramsey Avenue leaving trash out for the bears.

12:43 p.m. Possible drug activity was reported on Texas Avenue.

6:58 p.m. Report of a vehicle break-in on West 7th Street.

7:13 p.m. An aggressive and scary man with a limp was glaring at people on Central Avenue and saying “f***ing America.”

Thursday, Oct. 3

12:19 p.m. The front window of a vehicle on West 8th Street was shot out.

4:03 p.m. Report of a child being harassed while biking to school. The child was nearly hit by a car when trying to get away. The mother asked police what she can do before her son gets killed.

5:37 p.m. Two fly rods, a fishing vest and phone charger were stolen from an unlocked car on Kalispell Avenue. The fly rods were found at a used sports store.

11:07 p.m. A man with a long board was trying to start fights downtown.

Friday, Oct. 4

12:06 a.m. A man in a peacoat was being verbally abusive during open mic at a bar downtown.

8:43 a.m. Bears were getting into garbage cans left out on Haugen Heights.

1:18 p.m. Sunglasses were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Hazel Place.

9:35 p.m. Report of a truck on East 4th Street that was egged and sprayed with whip cream.

Saturday, Oct. 5

1:02 a.m. Report of an intoxicated man who slapped a woman outside of a bar downtown. Police chased the man into Depot Park where he was arrested.

3:22 a.m. A woman reported that someone poured gasoline inside her daughter’s Jeep downtown and went through her purse.

9:12 a.m. Tires were reported stolen from an alley off Somers Avenue.

11:46 a.m. Report of a couple arguing on Aspen Court. A woman was upset because no one was cooperating for her birthday dinner which was planned for later that night.

9:57 p.m. A man with a bloody nose on U.S. 93 South was screaming “No cops” No cops!” He was with a man and a woman. The woman left the scene in an SUV with blood on the window.

Sunday, Oct. 6

4:09 a.m. An employee at a store on U.S. 93 South punched the front door and shattered the glass.

5:31 p.m. Report of a dust cloud 50 feet high due to construction on West Second Street.

11:27 p.m. Police chased a vehicle down Lacy Lane where a subject was arrested.
