Freight cars derail at Essex
Five freight cars on an eastbound BNSF Railway train derailed at Essex on Thursday, Nov. 21, around 7:15 a.m.
The cars were carrying consumer products from Seattle to Chicago, BNSF spokesman Matt Jones said. Three were carrying hazardous materials, but there were no leaks and no one was injured.
BNSF was able to route some traffic around the derailment through the rail yard at Essex to keep trains moving. By Thursday afternoon, BNSF crews were working to put the cars back on the tracks. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
