The shutdown

| November 4, 2013 10:06 AM

“My fellow Americans” may or may not have been said by George Washington first and used by other presidents later, but I am using it now to call on my constituents to uncloak the Republicans who foisted this outrageous stunt of a shutdown on the American people.

The shutdown cost the taxpayers $24 billion. Those moneys could have provided funding for Head Start (kids), Meals on Wheels (seniors) and cancer research, kept national parks and monuments open, provided veteran survivor benefits, and kept us from being a dysfunctional “world leader.”

My proposal is to reclaim that $24 billion from those who stole it from us — the members of Congress behind the shutdown. My fellow Americans, send copies of your unpaid bills and delayed payments to: Sen. Ted Cruz, Washington Office,185 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington DC 20510. Tell him to reimburse his fellow Americans for this awful showdown he foisted on us. Send the same message to all who followed this miscreant.
