Leader of Tomorrow

Columbia Falls High School senior Maggie Panasuk was one of 13 high school seniors in the Flathead who completed the United Way’s two-year Leaders of Tomorrow program designed to build leadership skills through participation in the community. Students spent one day a month in leadership development sessions, learning about their community, performing community service, building life skills and participating in various activities. UM athlete

Nathan Klug, of Columbia Falls, recently graduated from the University of Montana-Missoula with a bachelor’s in management. As a member of UM’s men’s track team, Klug qualified for four Big Sky Conference outdoor championships in the hammer event. He finished twice in fifth place. He was also a one-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection.

Plum Creek scholarships

Three students from Columbia Falls High School received scholarships from Plum Creek. Allison Dierenfield will attend Carroll College in Helena, where she plans to study nursing. A high honors honor roll student for four years, Dierenfield received varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and track. Austin Martin will attend Flathead Valley Community College where he will study nursing. He lettered in basketball, soccer and track, and volunteered for Toys for Tots and conducting a blood drive. Christopher Wittkamp will attend Flathead Community College. A four-year honor roll student, Wittkamp lettered in tennis and pep band and played basketball.
