Tester speaks about Memorial Day
Today, folks across Montana and the rest of the nation gather to remember our heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.
In recent years, Montanans from across our state have given their lives in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Without them — and the millions of other Americans whose service we honor today — we could not enjoy the freedoms they secured.
Memorial Day is about paying our respects to those who gave their lives and saying “thank you” for them and for their families. But it’s also about living up to the promises we make to all of our fighting men and women.
That means we have to make sure that veterans have access to quality health care. It means making sure they can afford a good education for themselves and their families. And it means making it easier for veterans to get good-paying jobs when they return home.
As your senator, I will work every day to make sure that our promises to our military men, women and families are never broken. Because of their bravery and their commitment to service, Montana remains the greatest state in the greatest country in the world.
It’s something for all of us to keep in mind as we honor them on Memorial Day.
