New pot bill

| March 21, 2013 3:54 PM

A new 50-page bill, Senate Bill 377, will be heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, March 26, at 9 a.m. in Room 303. This is the most threatening marijuana bill that has been presented so far.

1) At the very least, it rescinds everything that Senate Bill 423 put in place and once again will overrule the voice of the people. The bill’s revisions will allow grow operations, marijuana shops and advertising.

2) It creates the infrastructure for an industry which includes taxes that will be distributed by the department to be used for grants for community improvements, as well as money for schools, the elderly and the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. It grows government.

3) This bill paves the way for full legalization and is an attempt to firmly entrench the marijuana business into our communities and state.

4) It will tie the hands of law enforcement as well as state, local and county governments.

5) It implies creating a specific Montana brand of pot.

This is just a portion of what this bill includes. It is crucial that you contact the Senate Judiciary Committee and ask them to vote against this bill.
