Happenings this week in Lakeside and Somers

| June 5, 2013 1:10 PM

Stone Walkway Installation Class.

Expert Stone Mason Andy Hoskins will be giving a class on how to correctly layout a flagstone walkway.  The community garden’s flagstone path project will be the classroom and the class is FREE!  It will be held this Saturday, June 8th.   Please call Andy for details if you have any questions.  (890-0110)   Feel free to bring some finger food or soft drinks, and invite some friends.  You can meet your neighbors, learn a new skill, get a tour of the garden, reserve a garden plot for next year, and upgrade the Lakeside Community Garden all at the same time.

Multi Family Garage Sale

Mission View Terrace is having its annual Multi-Family Garage Sale this Saturday June 8th from 8AM to 2PM.  It’s on Hwy 93 (2 miles north of Lakeside).  Why not get in some early bargain shopping then come to the community garden at 9:45, get a tour, and learn some stone masonry?

Lucky's 5th Birthday Bash

Help keep Lucky "on duty" by attending his 5th Birthday Bash on Wednesday, June 19, 5:30 - 8:30 at the Tamarack Brewery in Lakeside.  The organizers hope to raise enough additional funds to be able to keep this local icon working for another year, AND see if we can get a Speed Indicator Signs installed in Somers.  More information coming soon.  Check the local bulletin town boards and/or the Chamber of Commerce web site calendar for updates.

Story Hour at the West Shore Community Library

This wholesome community service resumes on Monday June 18th, from 10:30-11:30 am at the library in Lakeside. (Then every Monday after that, same time.)  There will be fun crafts and activities for kids as well as stories!  Call Marne for more information at 844-3338.

The Next Community Garden Meeting

The next official community garden meeting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd.  It will be at the usual place, the community garden.  (Just up the hill from the Homestead café.)  With any luck we will have Master Gardener Linda Norvell presenting.  The date & time are not yet set in stone, but are highly likely.  Call Dan at 871-5548 in a week or so for details.
