Rock 'n' roll camp for kids and adults offered
Love classic and current rock ‘n’ roll music? Want to learn and play with other rock musicians? Then North Valley Music School’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp is for you.
Christian Johnson, master musician, teacher and original member of the Mission Mountain Wood Band, will be conducting two camps during the week of July 29 to Aug. 3. Junior Rock Camp, for ages 9 to 17, takes place from 3 to 5 p.m. Adult Rock Camp, for ages 18 and older, is from 6 to 8 p.m.
All students from both camps must be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3
In the camp’s first two days, all students will learn three to four rock songs along with many standard rock techniques. Students will be formed into groups, choose a band name and perform as a band and as a full-camp ensemble at the end of the week.
July 31 is a free day; no class will be held, but students are encouraged to take part in at-home study and rehearse the songs and new techniques.
On Aug. 1 and 2, students will work one-on-one with Johnson and rehearse together with their bands. The all-student rock concert will be held on Aug. 3 at a venue in Whitefish.
