Muriel Callaghan

Muriel Callaghan passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 16, 2013.

She was born July 31, 1924 to Neil and Laura Ryan, and was raised in Bozeman, where she attended Rosary Elementary and High School. Muriel went on to earn a nursing degree from the College of Great Falls.

In 1946, she married Raymond Callaghan. They spent most of their married lives in Columbia Falls, where Muriel worked at the Columbia Falls Clinic. Later, she became the nurse for Columbia Falls School District.

Muriel was very active at Saint Richard’s Catholic Church and enjoyed her time visiting and working at the Klothes Kloset. She was also blessed with many kind and thoughtful friends who enriched her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Laurie, her brothers Emmett and Neil, her sisters Cleo and Shirley, and parents.

Muriel is survived by her son Ray and wife Sharon, daughter Sharon and husband Mark, and daughter Mary Kay and husband Steve; six grandchildren, Megan, Brady and wife Angie and Casey Callaghan,  Kyla Eddow and husband Chasen, and Hayley and Nicole Maykuth.

Services celebrating her life were held at Saint Richard’s Catholic Church on July 20, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
