Autopsy results from the body found July 12 below The Loop on Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road indicate Cody Johnson, 25, of Kalispell, died in a fall.

Flathead County Undersheriff Dave Leib reported the autopsy results on Friday, July 19. The final report has not been completed, he noted.

“The results of the autopsy are consistent with a fall being his cause of death,” Leib said.

No other details have been made public about his the circumstances of his death. Johnson was reported missing by family and friends on July 8 after he failed to show up for work at Nomad Global Communications, on U.S. 2 south of Columbia Falls.

He had moved into a new home on June 22 and married his fiancee seven days later. He was last seen heading toward the Hungry Horse and West Glacier area with unidentified friends in a black car with Washington state license plates on July 7.

An investigation is underway by the Kalispell City Police Department, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Glacier National Park officials by calling 406-888-7801.
