The body of a Kalispell man missing since July 8 was found below The Loop, a switchback on Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road, on July 12.

Cody Lee Johnson, 25, was reported missing by family and friends after he failed to show up for work at Nomad Global Communications, on U.S. 2 south of Columbia Falls.

Johnson had moved into a new home on June 22 and married his fiancee seven days later. He was last seen heading toward Hungry Horse and West Glacier in a black car with unidentified friends on Sunday, July 7.

His body was discovered about 9:45 a.m. on July 12 on steep and rocky terrain below The Loop. A short-haul rescue team from Parks Canada was brought in to help recover the body, and the Sun Road was temporarily closed to traffic.

Johnson’s body was transported to a local funeral home, and an autopsy will be conducted.

An investigation is underway by the Kalispell City Police Department, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Glacier National Park officials by calling 406-888-7801.
